Winning a Webby This Year

I did not build this thing to win anything. It came out of a stretch of late nights and a stubborn belief that the interface was worth fussing over long after it technically worked. Awards were not part of the plan, which is exactly why hearing my name attached to one this year landed the way it did — as a surprise rather than a payoff.

What I keep coming back to is how ordinary the work felt while I was doing it. There was no moment where it became award-winning. There were a few hundred small decisions to not ship the lazier version. That is the whole lesson, and it is not a very glamorous one: care compounds quietly, and occasionally somebody notices out loud.
